Shooting My First Wedding…Kind Of.

Hi everyone,

I just want to share a quick little bit about a new photography adventure I experienced recently…Shooting a wedding.

Last month my cousin got married. I was asked if I would like to be the photographer at the wedding. I didn’t even have to think about it, my answer was “No”. I’m not really the type to pretend I know how to do something. I certainly didn’t know how to photograph a wedding. I was invited to take photos anyway but not be the official photographer. This I readily agreed to. As long as the responsiblity was not all mine I was more than okay with taking some photos for them.

As I was editing the photographs I realized that as a wedding photographer you get to catch all of those happy moments. You capture the emotions of their special day, which is such a cool thing. When you look at it this way the idea of being a wedding photographer doesn’t seem quite so bad. I’m still not sure it is something I want to pursue, it is such a huge responsibility, but it is definitely not off the table. Maybe sometime in the future I will be comfortable enough to give it another try. Until then it is back to nature for me. 🙂
